Plastering & Filling Repairs

Patch plastering, crack repair and skim work to bring damaged walls and ceilings back to a decorating standard.

Most walls do not need replastering — they need the failed area cut out, the cause addressed and the repair blended in. We work on repairs and small-area skim rather than full replastering, which keeps the cost proportionate to the problem.

Cracks recur when they are simply filled. Where movement is the cause, we open the crack, reinforce it and repair it so the fix lasts. Where damp is the cause, we say so, because plastering over damp is a temporary result at best.

What’s included

  • Crack repair with reinforcement where movement is present
  • Patch plastering to damaged walls and ceilings
  • Small-area skimming and making good
  • Filling after removals — old fittings, radiators, fireplaces
  • Repairs to corners and external angles with beading
  • Preparation of repaired surfaces ready for decoration

Typical jobs

Work of this kind we take on

  • Cracks above door and window openings
  • Ceiling damage after a leak has been fixed
  • Making good where a fireplace or radiator has been removed
  • Blown plaster cut out and patched
  • Damaged external corners rebuilt with new beading

What to expect

How we approach it

The cause first, the repair second
We look for why the damage happened. If the cause is ongoing — a leak, damp, or structural movement — repairing the surface alone will not hold, and we will tell you that before starting.
Blended, not patched
Repairs are feathered into the surrounding surface so the area does not show through the finished decoration.
Dust controlled
Cutting out and sanding are contained with sheeting and extraction where practical, and the area is cleaned down afterwards.
