Wallpaper is unforgiving. A wall that is out of plumb, a seam that is not butted cleanly, or a pattern that drifts across a chimney breast will be visible for as long as the paper is up. We size the walls, work to a plumb line rather than the corner of the room, and set out the pattern before the first length goes on.

Removal is usually the larger job. Old paper often hides blown plaster, previous repairs or walls that were papered rather than repaired. We strip back properly, make good, and tell you what we find before going further.

What to expect

How we approach it

Set out before we start: We plan where seams will fall so the pattern lands sensibly on the wall you actually look at, and so short lengths do not end up beside a door or window.
Honest reporting on what is underneath: If stripping reveals blown plaster or an unsound surface, we stop and show you before continuing. Papering over a failing wall only postpones the problem.
Clean seams and edges: Seams are butted, not overlapped, and trimmed against a straight edge. Sockets and switches are cut around properly rather than papered over.
